CHECKLIST FOR RENTING PROPERTY TO FOREIGNERS
Landlord need to take precaution when renting
out their properties (whether in whole or in part) to foreigners. They need to exercise due diligence to ensure that their
prospective tenants are in Singapore legitimately. Please follow these guidelines laid down by the Singapore Immigration & Registration (SIR):-
- Inspect the original travel and identification documents of your prospective foreign tenant.
- See that the passport of your foreign tenant is legal endorsed with the immigration or work pass.
- Inspect the original copy of the work pass, compare the particulars stated in the work pass with that in the passport
if the foreigner claims that he is working here.
- Check the foreigner's status in Singapore with the employer as shown in the respective work pass.
